ADIPRENE® LF: Low free Isocyanate Prepolymers
Chemtura is a leading innovator in the development of low-free isocyanate urethane technology, which brings unparalleled performance and safety benefits to the market. In fact, Chemtura is the only manufacturer of Low Free (LF) products across all chemistries, including TDI, MDI, PPDI and HDI.
Chemtura’s ADIPRENE LF technology enables the industry to meet progressive safety regulations and labeling requirements by restricting free isocyanate in urethane pre-polymers below 1%. ADIPRENE LF pre-polymers have also demonstrated improved processing and enhanced performance of the finished parts.
MbOCA Replacement Technology
REACh legislation will ban the use of MbOCA in the EU beginning in November 2017. MbOCA is a curative that is commonly used to cure TDI and LF TDI pre-polymer systems. When this ban goes into effect, manufacturers will be unable to produce MbOCA in the EU, and processors will not be able to use this curative in their formulations.

Emerald Innovation®3000: Sustainable Polymeric Flame Retardant
Chemtura was one of the first flame retardant manufacturers to introduce and promote the use of polymeric flame retardants as a more sustainable alternative to traditional flame retardant technologies. The rationale for the use of polymeric flame retardants is simple. In their end-use applications they are too big to dissolve in water or oils, therefore they do not affect biological systems. This makes them inherently safer. Emerald Innovation® 3000, a highly effective and sustainable brominated polymeric flame retardant, delivers a variety of enhanced performance properties, and this innovation is an excellent replacement for a legacy molecule called Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD), in both expanded polystyrene (EPS) and extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam products.
GeoBrom®: Solutions to help Reduce Mercury Emissions
The world requires clean and sustainable energy, meeting the needs of the present without compromising future generations. In response to the global need to reduce mercury emissions, Chemtura developed a line of GeoBrom® brominated mercury control products that, when used with cost effective mercury control technologies, efficiently remove toxic emissions from coal-fired boilers and power plant installations .
Full-scale tests carried out at coal-fired power plants have shown that GeoBrom® products, whether used directly in the boiler or indirectly via activated carbon are effective in oxidizing mercury into derivatives that are more easily captured on sorbents, in flue gas desulfurization scrubbers, and in electrostatic precipitator units. The bromine derivatives are added to the coal prior to or after pulverization, to the combustion zone in the boiler or to the flue-gas upstream of the remediation controls. Removal efficiencies of up to 90% have been demonstrated with GeoBrom products.
